Don't Look Down

So it all started when the grout started to come loose right in the middle of the kitchen floor. Simple enough, I'll just re-grout the tiles - piece of cake.

Except of course, it wasn't. Once I cleaned & used the handy dremel to sand down the remaining grout around the tiles it became apparent that these tiles were ready to make a break for freedom since they weren't even a little bit attached to the sub-floor.

So up the loose tiles came. My plan was to just redo the thin-set and then get back to grouting. What I failed to take into consideration was the amount of time, tools and empty threats it would take to get the old thin-set off the back of the tiles. Days!!! It took 2 days to get the tiles ready to go back down.

Then 72 hours later they are ready to get grouted again....
