Paperwhites

I like to get these started in November, then enjoy the flowers in December & January. These are just potted in soil & a simple clay pot but you can get all artsy with glass beads and water and skip the soil. Might try that next.....

These are the easiest of bulbs to force. They dot no require a cooling period, literally all you have to do is add water and in just 3 weeks you've got fresh flowers in the dead of winter. They do have a very strong fragrance so be warned - these could be a little overwhelming in a small space. But such pretty, delicate flowers and great in busy kitchens, next to the growing stack of snow gloves & boots & coats :) These bulbs are available in most garden centers & even at home depot.
