They are divided into two different groups: Grandiflora petunias have very large flowers and are best grown in containers or hanging baskets (because they are more susceptible to rain damage), and Multiflora petunias have smaller, but more abundant flowers and are ideal for summer bedding or in a mixed border (because they are more tolerant to wet weather).

Notes

Summer 2014 - A First Attempt

Went to the garden center on a mission to get some Phlox and came home with these instead. Wasn't really expecting them to do well in our new planters by the driveway (a little shady and doesn't get a lot of rain fall) but they've taken off in there! I love the pop of color, I chose a purple and by pure accident it plays nicely against the mahogany of the planters. On Bob's advice I've been pulling off the dead flowers when I water them (roughly every other day) and they've looked full and vibrant for more than a month now. Will definitely do this again next year. Like Begonia's, these are a steal when you get them my the tray.
